Collection of silver plated and EPNS tableware and serving pieces
A large collection of silver plated and EPNS tableware and serving wares, dating from the late Victorian to mid 20th century, comprising approximately twenty pieces. The group includes a large ornate rococo style pierced salver, a stack of further salvers and plates, two substantial domed food covers, a fitted domed meat cover and dish, a rectangular two handled meat dish with rope twist border, an oval two handled tray, a pedestal tazza or compote, a pedestal gravy boat with stand, two small cream or jam pots, a tall chased ewer or claret jug, two teapots or coffee pots including an urn form example with ebonised handle and finial and a fluted octagonal example with shell moulded lid, shell form dishes including a three section shell stand with loop handle, and a small hammered rectangular cigarette or trinket box. One visible mark reads Prince's Plate Mappin and Webb's with registration number W15388 and 12, and other underside marks include EPNS and Made in England. The pieces are of typical British plated manufacture in Victorian, Edwardian and later revival styles, with pressed, chased and engraved decoration. Overall with surface wear, tarnish, spotting and plate loss consistent with age and use.
