British Navy, Far East interest: a photograph album belonging to a crew member of HMS Diomede, 5th Light Cruiser Squadron, China Station 1922-1925.

Highlights include the aftermath of the Great Kanto earthquake of 1923 and consequent fires (one photograph could be related to the subsequent Kanto Massacre). Also featured are many pictures of a 'Fancy Dress Football Match in aid of Old Comrades'. Locations include: Wei-hai-wei, Ming Tombs, Shanghai, Canton, Yangzee River, Tokyo, Yokohama. Other photographs feature torpedo drills, Captain (eventual Vice-Admiral) Geoffrey Hopwood on Xmas morning, and a diver in full suit.

Many photographs titled, some with longer annotations (often with a historical nature). The album itself is in very poor condition and falling apart, although the original painted designs are still vibrant. There is damage to some pictures. It also features a number of postcards from Plate Ltd Colombo - presumably purchased on route.
