Boer War - Original photograph, 9x11.5 ins, taken at a luncheon given in honour of General Sir Redvers Buller, 10 October 1901, at the London Headquarters of the Queen’s Westminster Rifle Volunteers. At this event, Buller sought to counter criticism of his conduct in South Africa but it served only to hasten his dismissal. Buller is seated at the top table wearing civilian dress. Sold together with a hardback copy of the book “Buller’s Campaign”, in which the author Julian Symons describes [pages 288 and 289] the speech and its consequences for a man who remained widely popular with the British public. Plus the catalogue for The Anglo-Boer War Anniversary 1899-1902 auction of Orders, Decorations and Campaign Medals, Militaria and Memorabilia. Organised by Spink of London on 20 - 21 October 1999. A superb illustrated (black and white, some colour) record of the special “100 years on” sale. A great reference in its own right. Softcover, 304pp
