An Indian Bronze Figural Foot Scraper in the Form of a Cockerel, 19th- 20th Century.
An Indian cast bronze foot-cleaning implement, modelled as a stylised cockerel standing upon an elongated oval base. The bird is rendered with a pronounced comb, rounded eyes, curved beak and incised feather detailing across the body and wings. The arched tail curves downward to join the base, forming a balanced sculptural silhouette.
The oval platform is pierced along the sides with a row of triangular apertures, creating a serrated edge intended for scraping mud and debris from the soles of footwear. The underside features a neatly incised cross-hatched grid pattern, providing additional abrasive surface for cleaning.
