Group – A rare WW2 Burma Campaign British Empire Medal Group awarded to Sergeant F. Webb, Royal Air Force. B.E.M., GVIR Military Issue (639065 Sgt. Frank Webb, R.A.F.), 1939-45 & Burma Stars, Defence & War Medals (all unnamed as issued). Lot includes his original Buckingham Palace award slip, congratulatory award telegram (230 Group RAF) and an OHMS envelope addressed to the recipient in Jersey. Citation reads '639065 Sgt Frank Webb No.1. C.M.U. Kanchrapara. This Airman has displayed outstanding keeness, ability and devotion to duty, and his services have proved invaluable in the building up and maintenance of Merlin and Mercury Engin production to meet the demands of operational squadrons in the field. Since the formation of teh unit after the fall of Burma, he has worked long and arduous hours under the most difficult conditions and has not a fine example which has inspired the personnel of the unit to meet all commitments. He has greatly assisted in maintaining the serviceability of aircraft during a critical period'. Mounted as worn.
