An Indian Miniature Painting of Ganesha Riding Mushika, 19th Century.
A finely rendered Indian miniature painting depicting the Hindu deity Ganesha seated upon his vahana, the mouse (Mushika). The elephant-headed god is shown in profile, adorned with delicate jewellery and a green sash flowing behind him. In his hands he holds traditional attributes, including a sweet (modak) and a tray of offerings, while one hand is raised in blessing.
The mouse beneath him is carefully detailed with decorative trappings, standing upright in devotional support. The composition is executed in soft yet vibrant tones of red, green, yellow, and cream, outlined with fine, controlled brushwork characteristic of late Rajput or Pahari painting traditions.
Approximately 26.5 x 21.4cm (incl. frame)
