A pair of medals to a defender of Kimberley during the siege of the town by the Boer forces under Cornelius Wessels and Piet Cronje, from October 1899 until the relief of the town by Sir John French in February 1900. Consisting of: Queen’s South Africa Medal with clasp ‘Defence of Kimberley’ and The Mayor's Siege Medal 1900 (the Kimberley Star). The QSA named to: Pte F H Patterson, Kimberley Town Gd (Guard).
The Kimberley Star with hallmark letter 'a' and original suspension brooch bar.
Frank Hay Patterson, a prospector by occupation, served with the Kenilworth Defence Force in the Kenilworth redoubt during the siege.
Extremely Fine (EF) condition.
