EUROPEAN COURT SWORD WITH GILT AND INLAID BLADE, 19TH CENTURY
A 19th-century European court sword, the slender steel blade decorated with gilt and/or gold inlaid ornament, likely in the form of scrolling foliage or symbolic motifs. The hilt fitted with a simple guard and pommel of courtly type, with wire-bound grip. Court swords of this form were worn as part of formal dress rather than for combat, reflecting status and rank.
