A 19th century Doulton Lambeth salt glazed stoneware figural flask, Queen Caroline, she stands wearing a crown and long dress, holding a scroll, My Hope Is In My People, oval base, 28.5cm high, c.1820 This figure is the first royal commemorative from the Doulton Lambeth Studio. Queen Caroline, the estranged wife of George IV, holds the banner inscribed 'My hope is in my people' showing she was popular with the public. However, she was despised by the king, who tried to divorce her and barred her from his coronation. She died a few weeks later.
