Christine Nisbet (American, 1902-1991) - Church Hill, Salcombe - Oil on board - 39.5 x 49.5cm - 54.5 x 65cm framed - Signed lower left - Exhibited: Royal Institute of Oil Painters, 1963 - Born in Connecticut, US, Nisbet obtained a Bachelor of Fine Art degree from Yale University, and subsequently went to study in Paris. After briefly returning to America to teach Art and History of Art, she moved to England in 1932. Nisbet lived at Compton Castle, Marldon, and later in Salcombe, Devon.
