A FINE 17TH CENTURY ANTWERP TORTOISESHELL AND EBONY CABINET ON LATER STAND the rectangular superstructure with ripple mouldings and tortoiseshell veneers, fitted with an arrangement of drawers and a central architectural door flanked by oil-painted inset marble panels of classical castle landscapes within gilt metal mounts, the door opening to reveal an illusionistic architectural interior painted with figures and fitted with gilt baluster columns and a chequered floor, the sides with geometric line inlay above the lower frieze with further landscape panels and gilt mounts, raised on an ebonised stand with six turned baluster legs joined by stretchers. (176cm high, 122cm wide, 48cm deep)
