AN AFRICAN ZULU STYLE SHIELD of traditional elongated oval form, constructed from animal hide with remnants of hair covering the front, hide is pierced and laced in vertical rows with rawhide thongs, forming the ladder binding, the reverse fitted with a central wooden staff secured with bindings, approximately 170cm in length (staff), 122cm in length and 63cm wide (hide) (Condition report: noticeable wear throughout, including hair loss, surface dryness and fatigue to the hide and bindings)
