AN INDIAN ILLUMINATED COLLECTION OF QURANIC SURAHS BOOK, KASHMIR, 19TH CENTURY
Comprises a collection of Quranic surahs, the pages feature vibrant floral and geometric designs, framed by intricate marginal ornamentation in gold, red, and blue. The double-page opening and closing illuminations are particularly striking, with radiating star-shaped compositions and lavish decoration. The Arabic script is executed in black ink with red diacritical marks, laid out in neat rows within double-ruled borders. The manuscript is preserved in a lacquered binding, hand-painted with a lavish tree of life floral motif in full colour and gold.
