Eliot (George) Works
Edinburgh, William Blackwood and Sons, 1894, seven volumes, bound in gilt-tooled half-calf, marbled boards, endpapers and page edges, 12mo
Books in generally good order, with all bindings being nice and firm. Some fading to the calf spines. Marbled top page edges similarly a little dulled. Mild wear to both heads and feet of spines. Some scuffing to raise bands and corners. Marbled boards very good overall, being of good, even, rich colour. Gilt stamp of A.R. & J. Hay of 23 George St., Perth to interior (presumably the binder). Some mild foxing to endpapers, straying onto title and following pages of some volumes. Pages otherwise are clean and crisp. Some text underlined in pencil. Some dog-earing to page edges of Adam Bede.
