A very fine Japanese lacquered circular box and cover from the Meiji period: the lid very finely gilded and decorated with chrysanthemum emerging from a tapering geometric-shaped vessel and lifting to reveal a further seven, smaller circular boxes and covers (the lids very finely detailed with various flowers), all of the boxes and covers decorated with gold splash to the bodies and insides (the large circular box 10cm diameter, the smaller boxes 3cm diameter) (8)
