CRIMEAN WAR - TICKETS, PASS & CORRESPONDENCE RE: CRIMEAN WAR; Range with printed "PASS FOR THE BRITISH TRENCHES FOR THIS DAY" dated 10 Aug. 1855 and issued to a Julian Patch - artist to the Illustrated Times, Apr. 1855 'NAVAL REVIEW' 'Admit on board Her Majesty's Ship Transit' unused and pasted onto thin card and endorsed 'Given to me by Lady Agnes Bullen 11 May 1855' and 16 & 17 Sep. 1856 printed invitation to 'Portsmouth Grand Testimonial Banquet' '.....ENGAGED IN THE LATE WAR WITH RUSSIA...' priced at one Guinea and bearing three red wax seals, cSep. 1854 env. to London - no markings and possibly carried by diplomatic bag in the hand of 'Cambridge' at lower left; George Duke of Cambridge, cousin of QV. The content (now missing) may have referred to the recent death of the addressee's nephew, Captain Horace Cust and July 1859 letter (no contents) written at Osborne House 'There is a man in the neighbourhood....who says that he acted as an interpreter to the British Fleet in the Baltic in '54/55.....he has been a servant in several Russian families...
