WW1 7th (Fife) Bn Black Watch Royal Highlanders DSO, MID Group of Four Medals.
Awarded to Major David Robert Keir DSO. Comprising: Distinguished Service Order, 1914/15 Star, LIEUT D.R. KEIR R.HIGHRS, British War Medal, Victory Medal, MID Oak Leaf (Major). The group is accompanied by a quantity of research. Distinguished Service Order London Gazette 1st January 1919. MID London Gazette 28th December 1918, 9th July 1919 Major David Robert Keir DSO was a pre war Territorial soldier and in 1913 was commissioned from the Ranks into the Black Watch Royal Highlanders, serving with the 7th (Fife) Battalion. He landed in France on the 1st May 1915. On the 30th July 1916 at High Wood he was wounded with gunshot wounds to the right forearm and face. He later returned to his unit and was wounded for a second time at La Corbie on the 11th April 1918, at this time with the rank of Acting Major and second in Command of the Battalion. Surviving the war, he remained with the Battalion and resigned his commission on the 9th January 1923 with the rank of Major after serving 22 years with the Black Watch.
