Mohammad Yazdi: A Safavid Copper Tray with Calligraphic and Floral Decoration, 17th Century.
Of circular form, the tray is finely decorated to the interior with dense inlay, arranged in concentric registers of scrolling vegetal motifs and alternating cartouches. The central medallion is surrounded by radiating panels filled with intricate floral and arabesque designs, while the broad border is embellished with continuous calligraphic bands interspersed with foliate scrolls.
