AN ANGLO-INDIAN MOTHER-OF-PEARL INLAID CASKET, 19TH CENTURY OR LATER. -
A small decorative casket of rectangular trunk form, featuring a domed lift-off lid and a wood-lined interior. The exterior is entirely clad in mother-of-pearl shell veneers, applied in a rhythmic geometric mosaic of vertical tiles with pointed tops to create a distinctive scaled or shingle effect. The iridescent shell exhibits a lustrous palette of cream and white tones with subtle flashes of pink and green.
