A MONUMENTAL CARVED WOOD MIRROR-INSET DOUBLE DOOR, TURKEY OR SYRIA, 19TH CENTURY

A pair of doors featuring a cusped cresting, each panel centered by an openwork medallion intricately carved with floral arabesques against a mirrored glass ground. The composition is framed by delicate floral scrolls, with the upper register displaying sculpted scrolling vines and inset mirrors revealing a painted architectural landscape. The outer borders are punctuated by almond-shaped (mandorla) medallions, complete with original iron hinges and handles.
