WW2 1939-1945 Star, Africa Star and BWM attributed to 985627 L/Bdr Henri Emile Chalvet Royal Artillery, nearly mint in RA box of issue addressed to Mr H.E. Chalvet, Norbury, London with transmittal slip for 3 medals. He was taken Prisoner of War serving with 274th Light A.A. Battery on 29th June 1942, most likely on the retreat after the Battle of Mersa Matruh. He is thought to have taken part in the Long March where thousands of Allied POWs were evacuated by the Germans to avoid their liberation from the advancing Russians. Sold with research details on the March and a newspaper.
With copied attestation book and POW lists where he was not released until 1945.
Also with a broken violin in damaged case which is though to have belonged to him.
