A very finely carved Japanese Meiji period ivory carving depicting a male figure holding a woven wicker basket in his right hand with two birds, one within, one perched on top (possibly cormorants?), he is walking forward with arched back and a serene expression on his face, his feet on rockwork and woven netting/baskets, signed underside with two-character mark, raised on carved wooden base with fluted edge (some discolouration, damage, losses and re-gluing etc.) (the ivory figure 17cm high)
