An Assortment of Silver Plated Tableware Including a Tea and Coffee Service and Commemorative Tankard
A collection of silver-plated and white-metal tableware. The grouping features a four-piece tea and coffee service in the Rococo Revival style, consisting of a coffee pot, a teapot, a twin-handled sugar bowl, and a cream jug. These pieces are decorated with foliate and scroll repousse work, featuring bird-form finials on the lids and standing on cast decorative feet. The interiors of the sugar bowl and cream jug show a gilded wash. The collection also contains a rectangular twin-handled tray with a gadrooned border, an oval basket with a pierced rim and a twisted swing handle, two circular coasters, and a small candlestick. A white-metal tankard is engraved with an illustration and text commemorating the history of Rugby football, referencing dates between 1823 and 1895. A miscellaneous quantity of flatware, primarily spoons and a single fork, is included. Marks are present on the base of some items but are not clearly legible.
