Victorian or Edwardian English oak Coal box with Brass Rope Handle
A single antique purdonium-style coal box of English origin, dating to the late Victorian or Edwardian period. The box is constructed of dark-stained oak, featuring a sloping front and a hinged lid. The construction is heavily accented with brass-tone metal fittings, including numerous dome-headed brass stud fasteners securing the structural panels. The lid is fitted with a central twisted rope-design brass handle and a separate turned wooden finial handle
