1840 pair of 1d Mulready letter sheets, one from Forme 1, Stereo A11, sent locally within London, struck with crisp red MC and black ?T.P./Cornhill? mark and backstamped with a red London octagonal ds for MY 23 1840, the other from Forme 3, Stereo A68, sent to Bungay and bearing a red MC and backstamped by a Bury St. Edmunds cds for MY 13 1840. Both with peripheral faults and light staining, nevertheless, still an attractive and scarce pair of ?May Date? covers. SG ME1, £2,400.
