Bontrager Privateer S steel mountain bicycle

A Bontrager Privateer S steel hardtail mountain bicycle from the pre Trek merger era, dating to the mid to late 1990s, finished in deep maroon with white BONTRAGER down tube lettering and PRIVATEER S to the top tube. It is fitted with a RockShox Indy XC suspension fork with INDY XC decals, a Bontrager quill stem marked BONTRAGER RACE INTENT, and flat bars marked RACE 5 degrees with Bontrager B crest detail. The transmission is a period Shimano mountain bike combination with Deore XT rapid fire shifters and Deore XT rear derailleur, Deore LX front derailleur and a Shimano Deore LX HB M564 front hub, together with a triple Shimano chainset. The wheels include MAVERICK FRONT marked rim sections, with knobbly off road tyres, linear pull brakes, alloy platform pedals with toe clips, and a black sport saddle on an alloy seatpost. The bicycle has been fully serviced and is ready to ride, with wear and general cosmetic ageing from prior use. It has been restored to a sound riding standard and may benefit from further cosmetic restoration for premium preservation.
