WILLIAMSON, Henry. Tarka The Otter, His Joyful Water-Life & Death in the Country of the Two Rivers, 1st edition, 1st issue, association copy, London: The Chiswick Press, 1927, privately printed for subscribers, numbered 8 of 100, signed and inscribed by the author to William Henry Rogers (to whom the novel is dedicated) with a small ink sketch of an owl, with the text of the E. V. Knox ('Evoe') poem 'Water-Magic' (Punch, 7 Dec. 1927) inscribed in William Henry Rogers' neat hand in ink to the initial blanks (5 pp.), printed in brown and black, very light and occasional spotting, a little soiling to endpapers (remnants of paper stuck to ffep from a tipped-in cutting), original full vellum, somewhat discoloured, boards slightly bowed, original brown gilt label to spine, t.e.g., remainder untrimmed, 8vo. Together with the 4 pp. prospectus for the limited edition, and a number of contemporary press cuttings. [An especially notable copy of Williamson's privately printed limited first issue of Tarka the Otter: The dedicatee's copy, inscribed by Williamson to William Henry Rogers, Master of the Cheriton Otter Hounds, and further inscribed by Rogers with Knox's poem.] Provenance: From the collection of a Devon family.
