A Chinese Copper-Red Glazed and Blue and White 'Dragon' Box, Xuande Mark. -

A spherical porcelain lidded box, featuring a rich, mottled copper-red glaze over its globular body and the sides of its domed lid. The lid's top is decorated in underglaze blue and white, depicting a dynamic, five-clawed dragon surrounded by stylized clouds and floral scrolls. A thin unglazed or gilt line separates the lid from the base. The underside of the white glazed foot displays a blue underglaze six-character reign mark within a double circle, reading "大明宣德年製" (Dà Míng Xuāndé Nián Zhì), which translates to "Made in the Xuande reign of the Great Ming Dynasty."
