A large Chinese blue and white porcelain covered vase – probably 19th / early 20th century, in the Ming dynasty style, of stout baluster form, painted with dragons amidst peony and chrysanthemum flowers and leaves, between a ruyi band to the neck and a band of stylised lappets to the base, the domed cover painted with conforming floral decoration, 60cm high, with lighter turned light oak stand.
* Provenance: Purchase invoice with the vase from Wessexbrook Limited, 50 & 69 Pimlico Road, London SW1, dated Oct. 1985, described as 'Early 19th Century blue and white jar and cover on stand'.
* A semi-circular piece (approx. 6 x 4cm) has been off the rim and has a well executed professional repair, with some painted retouches to the decoration along the break. There is also a hairline crack to the side of this break. No other chips, cracks or hairlines. A few small glaze scratches to the exterior.
