A late 18th century Italian (Kingdom of Sardinia) Sardinian Infantry Sabre. Having a brass hilt with lozenge shaped knuckle guard, shortened sword blade, etched to the blade on one side VIVE LE ROY DE SARDAIGNE (LONG LIVE THE KNIG OF SARDINIA) with the coat of arms of the ruling dynasty The Savoy Eagle surmounted by a Crown and foliage decoration on the opposite side.
