Philip Mathews (Irish/British, 1916-1984), still life with a wine bottle, a gravy boat, a bottle of milk, a coffee pot, a pan, a lemon, and an airmail letter on a circular tripod table with a yellow and green check table cloth, oil on canvas, 50 by 60cm, framed. Notes: born in Belfast, Philip Matthews was a painter and teacher who attended Maidenhead School of Art and the Euston Road School studying under Victor Pasmore. In 1946 he joined the staff at the Camberwell School of Arts. He exhibited at The Royal Academy and London Group amongst others.
