NAVAL INTEREST - HMS Foudroyant cane, the handle is cast from the copper hull lining of the wrecked ship, embossed with: OAK & COPPER FROM VESSEL AFTER BREAKING UP, a relief of Horatio Viscount Nelson, the key dates of Foudroyants history and REGd No. 311490, the original oak shaft has been replaced with an ebonised hardwood shaft (likely for fashion reasons), metal ferrule, English circa 1897, length 91cm.

The HMS Foudroyant was Nelson's flagship before HMS Victory. When she was wrecked, craftsmen were given licences to create commemorative pieces such as this from the timbers, rope, copper, bolts, etc.
