Very Rare Pair of 18th Century Dublin Maps
Dublin Castle: A Survey of the Present Streets, Immediately leading to His Majestys Royal Pallace or Castle of Dublin Nov. 9th, 1751, and its companion, A Design for Opening proper Streets or Avenues to His Majestys Royal Pallace etc., in Dublin, Jan. 15th, 1753, A rare pair Nos. 1 & 2, each engd. with fine roccoco cartouche, approx. 62cms x 36cms, hand-coloured, with some m/ss additions. The engd. legend at left hand side of each lists the holders, and the area of ground held by each. The tenants include, some important names in 18th Century Dublin business life:
Printers: Messrs, Faulkner, Grierson & Butler
Glass Grinders: Messrs Booker, Jackson, Lealand & others
Clock makers: Mr. Blundell
Goldsmiths: Messrs Dolier, & Wilson
Cutlers: Messrs Ashley, Bradish,
& many others, grocers, heberdashers, stationers, saddlers, taberns and ale houses, etc.
