Chinese textiles: a Qing Dynasty embroidered silk brocade wall hanging, the central panel in red brocade embroidered with fourteen columns of Chinese characters in gold thread, surmounted by a yellow brocade border, the top embroidered in coloured silks with dragons each side of a flaming pearl, the base with phoenixes each of a flaming pearl, the whole embroidered with traditional Chinese symbols including bats, butterflies, flower and clouds, lined with cotton backing; the red dye has run into the yellow silk border, overall faded and stained, the silk is perished and fraying with splits in the silk, 200cm x 140cm.
