18th century German viola labelled Sebastian Kloz, Mittenwald, An. 1753, and sold with a certificate of authenticity from
John & Arthur Beare,
with carved lion's head scroll, the two piece back of faint medium curl with plainish wood to the sides and head, the table of a fine width grain and the varnish of a chocolate brown colour on a golden ground, 16", 40.60cm

This viola is sold with a certificate of authenticity from John & Arthur Beare dated 7th August 1956

The viola appears to be generally in reasonable playing condition with expected wear and tear for age and playing, there is a table crack running up from the treble side f-hole to the edge and other more minor cosmetic issues consistent with age, several minor cracks to some ribs.
