A fine 19th century gilt-metal-mounted Sèvres porcelain casket of flattened oval form. The cover hand-decorated in enamels with Napoleon and generals approaching a fort, signed 'Didier' lower right and within a laurel-leaf-style gilded border. The cover opening to reveal two vignettes of floral sprays. The body gilded and decorated with laurel leaves and bows, and raised on four shaped feet. Printed Chateau de Tuileries mark and blue interlaced Ls mark to the underside. (17.5 cm wide x 13 cm deepest x 8.5 cm high)
Condition Report: Metal work tarnished - minor paint loss to left soldiers tunic on lid - very minor gilt wear commensurate with age and use - No damage detected under UV lamp
