In 1843, the physician Hermann Schauenburg, together with Rudolf Löwenstein and Justus Wilhelm Lyra, published the book German Songs and Their Melodies in Leipzig under Robert Friese. [ 1 ] The success of this so-called “Leipzig Commersbuch” finally replaced the “Serig”.
