Eastbourne Auctions Sale featuring Rare Early Banksy Works

Eastbourne Auctions is proud to present two rare and historically significant early works by Banksy. Created in 2003 and distributed during the Anti-Iraq War March, these pieces date from an early period in Banksy’s career, before his work became widely recognised in the commercial art market.

1. Bomb Hugger (2003)

Bomb Hugger is one of Banksy’s most recognisable anti-war images: a child embracing a missile as if it were a teddy bear. The work employs a juxtaposition of imagery that is characteristic of Banksy’s early anti-war output.

Spray paint on cardboard, 48 cm x 55 cm, Modern British School, Estimate £2,000-3,000.

Lot 1213 - BANKSY (b.1974) - "Bomb Hugger"

2. Yellow Chopper – “Wrong War” (2003)

Bold and confrontational, Yellow Chopper (Wrong War) features a military helicopter rendered in Banksy’s instantly recognisable stencil style, paired with an unambiguous political message.  Like Bomb Hugger, this work was produced for and distributed at the 2003 Anti-Iraq War March.

Spray paint stencil on cardboard, 72 cm x 74 cm, Modern British School, Estimate £2,000 - £3,000

Lot 1214 - BANKSY (B. 1974) - Yellow Chopper, Wrong War
