The Jaguar XJ-S is a luxury Grand Tourer and was produced by Jaguar from 1975 to 1996, which was based on the XJ Saloon. It was very different in character from its predecessor, and though it never had quite the same sporting image, the XJ-S was a competent grand tourer, and more aerodynamic than the E-Type. From 1988, a special XJR-S version of the V12 5.3-litre car was produced by JaguarSport, a separate company owned 50:50 by Jaguar and TWR. This car had a distinctive body kit, special alloy wheels and suspension and handling improvements. Between 1988 and 1989 a total of 350 XJR-S cars were produced with the 5.3-litre engine. After September 1989 the change was made to a special 6.0-litre engine with a Zytec engine management system producing 314 bhp, later, 329 bhp. This was different from the standard 6.0-litre engine used in the late XJS models. The XJR-S stayed in the line up until 1993; a total of 1,130 cars were built.

The vendor states that the VIN number proves this to be a genuine Jaguar Sport car, built in May 1990 according to its Jaguar Heritage Certificate. It is still in its correct livery of Solent Blue, with magnolia hide piped with blue and blue carpets, all of which are in excellent original condition. The jack and toolkit are present in the boot. The total production of the Jaguar Sport 6.0 litre XJR-S in 1989-93 was 1130 and according to HowManyLeft there are fewer than 80 still recorded in the UK. Tax discs since 2001 are present, as are all MOTs since 2003, when the mileage is shown as 79294. This suggests that the car has done very few miles since then, as the current mileage is 80970. The current MOT expires on 5th May 2016. The vendor bought the car in 2013. It was clearly sound but 'down-at-heel' and he set about getting it back to a good usable standard. Recent invoices totalling over £6000 are in the file, including new brakes, suspension bushes etc and repairs to previous bodywork repairs! Where still available, new Jaguar parts have been used. The car now looks as it should, runs smoothly and quietly on 12 cylinders, with awesome performance when called upon. Sadly, he needs to find a new owner to appreciate and enjoy the car, as circumstances dictate that he is unable to do so.
