Sir Noël Coward (1899 – 1973) - a large George VI silver rounded rectangular presentation hipflask, To Norman from Noël, hinged turn-cover enclosing a silver-gilt interior, 19.5cm long, James Dixon & Sons Ltd, Sheffield 1945, 12oz

Provenance: Presented to Norman Hackforth (1908-1996), musician and radio presenter, by Noël Coward (1899 – 1973) after World War Two. During the war, Hackforth joined the Entertainments National Service Association (ENSA) and initially worked in France and North Africa. In 1943, he came into contact with Coward for the second time, and went on to be recruited by N.C. as his accompanist and assistant in South Africa, India and Burma.
