Bottle No.1 of Refuge Manx Rum (70cl @ 45% ABV) is presented in a bespoke wooden case signed by Tiffany & Paul Kerruish as Founders of the Fynoderee Distillery and their illustrator and artist Julia Ashby Smyth – also including a souvenir booklet inside the case and is the ultimate collector’s item to commemorate 200 years of the RNLI saving lives at sea.

BOTTLE No.1 of the exclusive, limited-edition Refuge Manx Rum is presented in a custom commemorative solid wooden crate. The stunning label has been designed by Manx artist Julia Ashby Smyth. This is a 70cl bottling at 45% ABV from the 11 first-fill bourbon quarter casks matured within the sea-soaked walls of the Tower of Refuge for over one year during 2023/24.

To mark 200 years since the formation of the RNLI by Sir William Hillary on the Isle of Man, the island-based Fynoderee Distillery took 11 quarter-casks of scratch-made Manx Rum to ‘barrel age’ inside the iconic Tower of Refuge for one year during the bicentenary. The Tower of Refuge was constructed by Sir William Hillary to provide refuge to stranded mariners and stands in Douglas Bay to this day as an iconic monument to the brave and resourceful man who founded the famous charity that saves lives at sea.

Having survived a year at sea on Conister Rock inside the tower, this historic fund-raising rum is back ashore, bottled and individually numbered, ready to be enjoyed with 20% of the sales proceeds going to the charity. There are just 2500 bottles available for sale. Bottle 1 is available for public auction on this site and Bottle 200 is being kept by the RNLI in their national archive.
Fermented and distilled by the Fynoderee Distillery in Ramsey, Isle of Man from organic Colombian panela, Manx Refuge Rum is a light amber rum, naturally coloured and non chill-filtered. Rich, smooth and imbued with the historic maritime atmosphere of the Tower, you will taste notes of toasted oak, vanilla, salted caramel and bourbon.
