1882 dated Egypt, 5 clasps to 1st Royal Highlanders.

Condition - Fine, Heavy surface pitting which has also removed part of the regimental number and regiment. However still identifiable.
Correct on rolls and with notes on recipient from service papers in National archives - Byres (or Byers) enlisted into 42nd Royal Highlanders (Black Watch) in June 1880 and served with 1st Battn. in Egypt in 1882. Was in Netley Hospital by Nov. 1882 - possibly as a result of sickness contracted in Egypt.
To 2nd Battn. in April 1883, he served with them in the Sudan campaign in 1884, on the Nile in 1884-85 and was present at the actions of El Teb and Kirbekan.
He transferred from Malta to UK in Sept. 1886 for discharge to reserve.
A scarce 5-bar medal to a very good regiment.
