Early carved oak shaped Drop Leaf Hall Table on bobbin twist supports, with a single drawer, and a later added period oak raised back with 1639 dated carving. Carvings also portraying - 'David Linsay - Balcarres' & 'Astra Castra Numen Lumen'. Depicting the tables possible origins to the family or/and their grounds. (98cm Width x 99cm Tall x 40cm Depth, 92cm Depth with leaf.) David Lindsay, 1st Lord Lindsay of Balcarres (1587 - 1642) was a Scottish nobleman, invested as a knight in 1612. The Latin phrase ''Astra Castra Numen Lumen'' was the Lindsay's of Balcarres (1587-1869) motto, meaning, ''The stars my camp, the Deity my light''.
