An early Whitehaven Pottery plate, with blue decoration William James Esquire (1791-1861) at The Independent Freemans Call 1820, with crossed flags. Diameter +/- 24 cm. NOTE: This lot comes with a selection of research papers about the plate and William James Esquire (see illustration).
The plate is generally in very good order. There are some very minor scratches all over and some glaze imperfections to the rear but no chips or cracks.
