Portable Medical Instrument Sterilizer – Likely Military Field Use c.1920–1945. A scarce nickel-plated brass portable alcohol-fuelled sterilizer designed for the field sterilisation of surgical instruments. The compact folding design incorporates an internal spirit burner with wick and folding wire supports allowing instruments to be heated above the flame. Such equipment was used by doctors, surgeons, dentists and military medical personnel where access to permanent sterilisation facilities was unavailable. Complete with burner, wick and folding support frame. An unusual survivor from the inter-war and Second World War era, equally at home in a military medical, surgical or scientific collection
