A cultured pearl necklace. Comprising three strands of cultured pearls, measuring approximately 8.9 to 6.5mms, to the mid 20th century platinum and gold, old-cut diamond cross motif clasp with rose-cut diamond and calibre-cut sapphire openwork surround. Estimated total old-cut diamond weight 1.50cts, H-I colour, VS2-SI1 clarity. Length 48cms. Weight 89.8gms.

  • Overall condition good. Some surface scratches/wear and discolouration in keeping with general age and wear.
  • Cultured pearls likely later to the clasp.
  • Diamonds well matched.
  • Diamonds bright.

  • Principal diamonds with few minor inclusions under 10x magnification. One of the kite facets to the central diamond appears slightly rough, possible shallow cleave parallel to the facet.
  • Individual size and setting of rose-cut diamonds prevents accurate weight estimation and colour and clarity assessment.

  • Rose-cut diamonds generally with some small inclusions and some small surface cavities under 10x magnification.
  • Without the aid of laboratory equipment, it has not been possible to determine if these cultured pearls are from a fresh or saltwater source.
  • Cultured pearls are a creamy white colour, with rose and greenish overtones.
  • Cultured pearls generally in good condition, with some minor nacre damage and abrasions and typical surface blemishes and features.
  • Sapphires are a well matched medium blue hue, well saturated, with good clarity and typical inclusions.

  • Sapphires in good condition with minor abrasions.

  • Length of clasp 1.9cms.
