A German Geislingen Bone Figural Chess Set, Representing Two European Armies, 18th Century.

An impressive complete bone chess set from Geislingen, finely turned and carved in the distinctive 18th-century German figural style. The set features elaborately modelled kings and queens in period costume, wearing coloured hats and detailed garments, each raised on multi-tiered, lathe-turned pedestal bases. The bishops, rooks, and knights follow traditional Geislingen forms: bishops as standing court officials, rooks as turreted towers with stacked circular tiers, and knights as stylised horse heads carved with elegant contours. The pawns are presented as finely turned baluster forms with domed tops, uniform across the set.

H: Approximately 8.5cm (kings)

Provenance: From a distinguished European private collection.
