The BMW M5 is a high performance variant of the 5 Series executive car built by the Motorsport division of BMW. The first incarnation of the M5 was hand-built in 1986 on the 535i chassis with a modified M1 engine that made it the fastest production saloon at the time. Versions of the M5 have been built from subsequent generations of the 5 Series platform. The E39 M5 had a significant increase in power and was produced in much greater numbers than the previous generations. Unlike its predecessors, the M5 was produced on the same assembly line as the regular 5 Series models at the Dingolfing factory in Germany.

This is a rare BMW E39 M5 'Individual', one of less than 200 of the 2,500 UK cars in RHD. It is presented in the unique combo of Midnight Blue with full Champagne Heritage Nappa leather, and comes with Bruyere Club wood trim and extended Alcantara. These cars were part of BMW's celebration of the model's final year of production, so come with a comprehensive list of extras over the standard M5. This car has had only 4 owners in total, and has been owned by the vendor since 2009, with the previous two being BMW Owner's Club members.

A Quaife limited slip differential was fitted by Birds Autos in 2014 to significantly improve traction control over the inadequate OEM unit. A full bodywork restoration and respray in original Midnight Blue was carried out in June 2018, with the wheels also being fully refurbished. Mechanically, the car has had a new clutch assembly, new suspension bushes etc, and an aircon refurb with new alloy pipework, all carried out by specialist BMW independents. The car has also had a recent major service.

The car is described by the vendor to be visually as new. VANOS system quiet, MAFs delivering full power, it still drives like the the car enthusiasts consider the best sport saloon of the last 20 years. There is some noise from SAP on start-up but the emission control is still excellent, and there is the usual pixilation on instrument panel LEDs.

The car has full service history in the logbook, main invoices, original leather docs holder with manuals and 'Individual' promotional brochure. The 'Individual' is considered a highly collectible modern day classic. Kept in excellent condition, its value can only go up. A great opportunity to acquire a car that rarely appears on the open market.
