Irish Royal Tyrone Fusiliers Militia Victorian Officer waist belt clasp circa 1856-81.
Fine rare silver-plated interlocking example with matching benchmarks to each half. Circlet inscribed ROYAL TYRONE FUSILIERS; seeded centre mounted with flaming grenade. Universal pattern rococo ends. Minor service wear GC Raised at Caledon 1783, redesignated Royal Tyrone Fusiliers in 1855, then 5th Bn.of Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers 1st July 1881, in May 1882 renumbered 4th, redesignated as 3rd Bn. on 12th July 1908 on transfer to Special Reserve, redesignated Militia in 1921. The Royal Tyrone Militia have the distinction of being the first regiment to mount guard on Dublin Castle carrying the Union flag.
