An amusing and precious picture of a life at sea in the navy, Teonge's diary contains accounts of cruises in the Channel, Atlantic, and Mediterranean where he searched for pirates, landed in Syria, and visited Malta, Zante, Cephalonia, and Aleppo, accompanied by songs, sonnets, acrostics, etc.
